When I moved to Baltimore back in 2012, the first place I ever shot was at the oh so infamous Graffiti Alley. 3 years later and I am back with a whole new look, attitude and take on blogging and my “image”. I am the girl that can look all dolled up and “soft” ala the Bastille Day post and the next minute I can bring you fierceness the likes of Naomi Campbell or even dare I say it… Beyonce. Heck no, there are no parts of me that even think I’m in the same realm at these superstars but I wanted to paint a picture in all of your heads. Did it work? Yeah or Naaaaaahhhhhhh?
When I decided to go on the #ShootsOnShootsOnShoots tour with DeAnna of The Pretty Girls Guide and Teena of Fashion For Breakfast, graffiti alley was not even a thought. We wanted to search out the best murals in Baltimore to switch it up. Even the outfits I brought weren’t “gritty” enough in my opinion and then I thought…. F’ it… I make the outfit, the outfit does not make me. So I threw on my LDSquared or “Little Denim Dress” and after shooting their outfit posts, the camera turned on me. I don’t think I have ever seen this side of me captured so perfectly on camera but I am oh so happy that it did. I felt like a diva all the way and I cannot be any happier with this whole entire series of pictures!
When I first began blogging I tried to copy all the well known and successful bloggers. Even though my style was my own, the photography was not. The direction of my shoots was not. Even if some ways my style was a bit influenced as well. I wanted to make it in the blogging world. I wanted to be known. I wanted success and I realized over time its not about the money or even the fame. If you are out here giving your all there is a niche for you. I am still figuring what mine is but I am having fun with blogging again. I am not as worried about every teeny tiny thing because Jennifer Jean-Pierre is and never has been a stickler for details. Well I am detail oriented when it comes to my interpersonal interactions… man when people try to lie on me I can recall the smallest of details but I digress. This shoot felt ALL me. This is not a perfectly layered outfit with brand names. I am not wearing the latest “IT” shoe. Here I am showing my personality through and through with every single image and this is why I love it! The Caterpillar is slowly transforming…………
My first thought was that the Zara tidye maxi dress was too much but I decided to shoot a couple with it anyway. It worked out a-ok! Oh if you remember, I wore this dress last year with an all white outfit but this year I decided to chop off the sleeves and use it as a coat instead. I am not much of a DIY’r but Im quick with scissors. I will make denim cutoffs, crop tops or slash up a garment with the quickness! I just dont like things to be “too perfect”… I am a lover of flaws!
I swear I have the goofiest smile ever in this picture. But hey I am all about this juxtaposition lol. I mean Jen Jen Fierce smiles too. Ughhhhhh soooo corny, right?

Great photo shoot. The graffiti background really lends a more art like feel to the shoot.
