Loving this dark green dress but more on that later………..
Photography is beyond important to me. While I do not always have the most professional of images, I love that every picture on this blog has a collaborative spirit and that there was a lot of work involved in making it come to life. Whether it is a menage a trois between myself, my remote shutter and tripod or me pulling a co-worker, friend, relative, boyfriend or friendly extra-terrestrial to suffer through my intense directing and constant camera settings change- the images on this site are a labor of love! I thank ALL of you who deal 🙂
Since moving to Baltimore in 2012, I passed St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church on route 40 countless times. I was always drawn to it for one reason or another and when Teena and I decided to shoot out of the blue, I knew that this was my location. It was 5:59pm when we decided we needed to release some of our creative energy and sunset that particular day was slated for 7:11pm. So we had to MOVE!
I quickly went home, threw on this wig, put on my Madrags dress, grabbed my faithful denim jacket and was out the door just in time to see Teena pulling up to pick me up around 6:35pm. She was wearing a fantastic Melanin Got ‘Em Jealous tee and I was channeling a little Karla Deras in my body con “henley” style dress. And in less than 30 minutes, we managed to shoot both of our outfits to our liking!
The minute I put an outfit together I know instantly how I want to edit the pictures from that outfit’s shoot. It is my belief that editing is what shows your personality via the image. While not every outfit or situation calls for the dark, moody post processing that I adore so much, I do my best to stay true to my aesthetic.
But back to our photo-shoot and my outfit. Can we please discuss these Schutz caged heel sandals? I am not sure how ANYONE finds these to be comfortable but I am sure that those with a dainty, high arched foot think these are comparable to cushioned Nikes but my wide, flat footed self is in pain EVERY. SINGLE. TIME I put these bad boys on.
As I grow in age, the less that I am willing to do for fashion. I refuse to sacrifice my comfort and foot health for fashionable footwear. While any heels will hurt over time, these kill my feet within 10 minutes of placing them on. And for me that is a NO NO!
So for that reason, I will be letting go of my precious heeled sandals and selling them immediately. In order to have a chance on the sale, you must be getting my newsletter! This will be the primary platform for their sale and I would hate for you to miss out!
Oh and here is another post that I did absolutely NO body altering. And trust me, I wanted to. I wanted the dress and hair to be the shining stars but unfortunately my side rolls, tummy bulge and lack of thigh muscle definition are playing a VERY supporting role but hey that is what happens when you eat and do not work out. I refuse to constantly complain about the state of affairs that is my body since I have done NO work to change it.

“I refuse to constantly complain about the state of affairs that is my body since I have done NO work to change it.” I need to take this approach! Honesty is important and incentive to make a change… coco

Very striking! I’ve always loved that colour, & it’s hot but not as obvious as black or something. (Would have liked a back shot though…) Still, the side shot is pretty Damn good! 🙂

Well I KNOW that’s not the case… 🙂
The effort you put into the photography really shows. I enjoy your aesthetics almost as much as your creative looks!
