Cocktails with Claire DC

Friday night, NYC blogger extraordinaire, Claire Sulmers hosted an event here in DC entitled “Cocktails with Claire” and my good friend Vogue and I attended. This is a very small recap of the night and what I wore. The venue was not the best for photography or even really mingling since so many were in attendance and we were shoulder to shoulder but in all I had a good time.
The minute I heard about this upcoming event, I contacted Claire via email and wanted to host a small intimate dinner for her with some of the fashionistas and ‘nistos of DC. Although that did not end up coming to fruition because of scheduling issues, I was fortunate to be able to assist Claire with little tasks such as finding a good makeup artist for the evening. Im still so geeked that I found someone that she adored and who made her look amazing. Because as you can see from the pics she posted on her site and facebook, she truly did. Her skin was flawless and the makeup gave her an ethereal glow. Kudos to Michelle for her talents with a makeup brush!
It would have been really nice to have actually had a chance to speak to Claire and thank her again in person for allowing me to help BUT….. this extremely RUDE man who was associated with Antwan Byrd of DeBrichhio kept jumping the long line of those of us waiting patiently to take a picture with her and pulled her away. Literally pulled her away and sat her down and it appeared to push his business to her. I am all for networking and getting more exposure for your business but you never ever know who you are being rude to and in the end who you associate yourself can hinder or help you be successful. Words to the dark skinned fellow with the white shirt, dockers looking pants and Sperry Topsiders that was with Mr. Byrd, you were downright rude and disrespectful to the women who were waiting in the line looking completely flustered that Claire was walking away with these gentlemen who were never in line themselves. Young man its great to be confident and a go-getter but in that situation, wait your turn like the rest of us. I really hope they get the exposure they want in Fashion Bomb Daily but I also hope they learn manners and etiquette for future events.
