Hey all-
On January 12, 2010 at 4:53pm a disastrous earthquake hit my home country of Haiti and caused not only deaths but such devastation to buildings on the small island. The hospital I was born in was just a mass of debris from the shocks and even the Palais National came down. I still remember learning about it from a tweet from Morgan of Day of Major around 6pm that day and just going into panic mode for the few family still residing there. Many people have a certain view of the island and its people and its SO far from what is reality. We are a people of ridiculous resilience, tenacity, and just pure happiness regardless of the situation. Even with the mess the country is STILL in, the residents are all smiles adn have built tent cities. They have even named “roads” in those tent cities to reside in. I love my country and my background so much and will do anything that I possibly can to help support in its rebuilding. I recently stumbled upon the Color of Hope website and was adamant to help them. I will always try to incorporate fashion with everything and I truly hope that you all visit the website and order one of the many Unity T-shirts that are offered. I just placed my order and will be wearing it on January 12 of this year while playing in the USFTL Nationals Tournament for Flag Football in Orlando, FL. If you do order it or plan to, pretty please let me know via a comment on the blog and send me a pic of you rockin it and the reader with the best outfit featuring a T Shirt will not only get displayed on the blog but you will win a mystery gift from me!!!
From the Color of Hope website: On January 12th, although we cannot all physically be together in the same place at the same time, we will all be united in spirit around a common cause. That day, across town, people everywhere will gather to form circles of solidarity and take a moment of silence for Haiti wearing the same “Unity T-shirt” that presents a unified message from a united community in remembrance of the devastating earthquake.
Additionally, for every T-shirt sold a solar light will be donated to a child in Haiti to enable him/her to study during the night hours. You can be a hero for a child in Haiti, please help us light the path of Haiti’s future leaders.
Again, I thank you SO much for the support and look forward to seeing your outfit pics!!!!
p.s. any of my readers in Orlando, come check me out playing football Jan. 12, 13, and 14th!
