Layering is my jam in the Fall but creative layering to make a whole new style is my ultimate vibe. A few years ago, I layered a denim vest over a leather jacket and loved the look so much. Fast forward 7 years and I’m watching Queens on ABC and fell in love with the denim vest over a trench coat situation. Whoever knew a vest could be the answer to all your style woes!

Yes, my inspiration for this look came from Brandy’s character on the show. She was wearing a denim and trench coat from Proenza Schouler and I fell in love. I immediately googled to find it and was 1) shocked at the price 2) sad to see it sold out.

But then I realized that it was a super simple remake and was inspired to go to the thrift store to find a denim vest or a denim jacket to turn into a vest in order to reach my goal of creative layering. Although my husband has a denim vest from Levi’s I could use, I was adamant about finding my own to make it really special.

But then, I did not find one so I had to rock my husband’s cause I wanted to re-create this look so bad!

I rarely toot my own horn but this is a total vibe! I am so proud of it. You will probably start seeing more vest layering by me and I promise not to bore you too much.

This is what I love so much about fashion! It is the way you can recreate and manipulate. It is reinventing even the most basic of outfits. It is not about trends or being a walking mannequin but instead of showing off your personality. As you can tell, I felt so fierce in this look and although we were on a time crunch, I probably would have asked for more photos because of the confidence radiating through me from wearing something that made me feel so beautiful!
