Drive the District: General Motors Yukon

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetI am always the first to hand the keys to anyone and ask them to drive. It is not a spoiled brat thing but a “I dont really like to drive thing”. When I teamed up with General Motors in the beginning of November, never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would find a renewed love for being behind the wheel of car. The GMC Yukon they sent over no doubt made me fall in love with driving again. I have always been a truck girl. Forget the sleek sports cars and give me a big body any day. The first time I got into the Yukon I was astonished its interior. It has such a cock pit type feel and can hold oh so much. I used it to transport some furniture and it handled the task beautifully with room to spare.car and you be natural event 008

There were MANY things I loved about the Yukon but I decided to narrow it down to five and I urge you all to go check them out if you are in the market for a new car.

  1. The rear view camera and butt buzzer alert system… yes you read that correctly. The seat vibrates when you are too close to something just to give you a friendly reminder to pay a little bit closer attention. At first I was confused and frightened but later it became something I expected to feel at least 2 times a drive.
  2. The ultra smooth ride….. yes its a truck but this baby did not drive like one at all. This was hands down one of the smoothest rides and it also has incredible pick up. I hit that accelerator a couple of times and was delightfully impressed at how quickly the needle on the speedometer rose without it feeling jerky or heavy.
  3. The dashboard message center… seriously it tells you EVERYTHING. It felt like a smart phone inside the car. One day I even came to the car to see a message in the dashboard about “theft attempted” and freaked out. But then remembered that it was me when I forgot the keyless fob. I adore that as well.. the push to start instead of turning a key. Its the simple things man, I tell you!
  4. The sound system… OH how I miss that sound system. I jammed like I have never jammed before. Sincerely I made CDs, used my ipod and listened to the radio and had dance parties in that perfect white automobile.
  5. Gas efficiency… I know, I know. Its a really big truck and gas is expensive. I found that it didnt burn through gas nearly at all. I had it for a week and drove to DC and back twice (about 80 miles round trip) and drove it all around Baltimore and never had to fill up in those 7 days. Its that flex fuel technology I guess.gmc yukon comme coco

All in all, I sincerely loved the experience I had with the Yukon and am really loving the path General Motors is taking with its vehicles. I have only had GM cars my whole life and they have all served me well and lasted a ridiculously long time. While my trusty Chevy Trailblazer will probably last so much longer, if I ever was looking to buy something new, I would seriously think about getting something smaller but similar to the Yukon I had the pleasure of driving. Thank you so much again General Motors for this opportunity and keep on truckin’!

I know that had be to really cool!! Even though I love the new Tahoe’s better (design wise) they are all made by the same company and General Motors cars seem to be pretty well made cars/trucks. I have 2, a Chevy HHR (my older car that my husband drives) and a Chevy Equinox (newer model) and both are great cars.

I agree! I do like the Tahoes and I do think they are sleeker looking but man I enjoyed that Yukon lol. I also drive a GM car… my dad worked for them for over 35 years 🙂
