Fall Florals and Purple Boots

Hey all-
Its happening. I’m reaching closet chaos and I do not know what to do. I have 3 closets, 8 drawers and 2 trunks full of items and every single morning I cannot find a single thing to wear. I have an idea of what I want to wear but between my lack of basics, lack of items that pair well together and growing waistline/hips it is a mental and creative struggle every time I have to leave my house. I honestly could live in skinny jeans, a long tunic or tee, jacket and boots/architectural heels or pumps but alas I am down to 3 pairs of pants that fit. (Kate Lanphear/ Kelly Cutrone/ Kate Moss are wardrobe ideals) The biggest problem I have with myself is that as much as I WANT to tone up and trim down, I WANT to eat and sit on my couch more. I have boards upon boards of fitness and exercise tips and binders chock full of cut outs on yummy and nutritious meals but Wendy’s, McDonalds, Sara Lee and Duncan Hines seem to have power over me. I urge you my readers to come to my rescue…. how do you stay and keep yourself motivated and
what exercises do you do to maintain your health and shape????

About the outfit: I was perusing Monroe’s blog when I saw so many posts of her rocking booties and shorts/skirts/dresses and I yearned to do the same. I always was fearful because I have “athletic” calves and legs and was sure they would make my legs look even more squatty and they do but ask me if I care?!?!? Like everything if I am afraid I feel the need to tackle it on so this is what I did. What do you think Sheila?? <—- she and I discussed this very issue over Twitter the other day!

I previously wore this dress, on a Date Night

Tights: HUE  Option 1
Boots: Steve Madden  Option 1/ Option 2/ Option 3
Glasses: Street Vendor in NYC

For me, staying motivated to workout stems from needing ‘me’ time. I make myself go to the gym 4-5 times a week. Granted I’m not doing anything to strenuous, but hopping on the elliptical or treadmill with a book or magazine or even a great TV series can make a workout relaxing. It’s killing two birds with one stone- you’re working out & doing something you enjoy. Hope this was helpful!

I love this look!! I’m definitely excited for booties & tights season 🙂 This is such a cute look & I love that the boots are purple instead of the typical black. I definitely need to get back into shape & I’m going to sign up for Planet Fitness you should join so we can work out together!!

I do a combination of Pilates, running, weights and yoga.
I schedule my workouts the way I would any other appointment for myself(dentist, manicure, etc.) Try starting with doing something one day a week then set a goal of 3-4 times a week and reward yourself with something pretty once you have maintained that schedule for a month. You can do it!

I love it…I think you have the right proportion of dress length and bootie height!!! I also love that they’re purple;-). I think you got it right!! Also I do Bikram (or hot) yoga) 3 or 4 times a week and that allows me to eat mostly anything. I just try not to eat too late. I found that when I was just doing weights and running, I bulked up more than I liked. I tried a bootie look too (last week)…check it out and let me know your thoughts;-).

    xoxo,
    Sheila

I just discovered your blog, very nice. First of all, you have a great figure and you dress like you love it, so yaay! I have been on a wellness journey myself and over quite some time I have lost quite a few dress sizes. You can see pics here http://www.refreshwithekene.com/the-sparkle-life-makeover-course/ . Anyway I wanted to share some of my top tips. For me, because I had/have a significant amount of weight I wanted to lose, staying motivated is key and I have yoyod a bit, give or take 7lbs. And yes, I have fallen off the wagon in this journey but I ran after it and got back on.

However the most important thing for me and actually studies have shown that staying active is the key to keeping the weight off. So I zumba, booty dance, spin, swim as often as possible. One of your other readers said to schedule it in, I agree. I think about it as a key to my living successfully and so I push myself the way one would to finish college for instance. The other thing I do is make sure I feel like I look great. Particularly before I eat. I have found that if I feel like I look fierce before I eat then I am conscious of the fact that I am too fabulous to mess myself up with the food. Lastly. I found that refreshing my spiritual and emotional self are also key. So I check myself before I wreck myself. I don’t think that wendy’s or duncan hines usually is the main issue, but usually there is a spiritual or emotional imbalance that is driving the need to soothe with food – Maybe…maybe not, I don’t want to be presumptuous. In my case, emotional eating was part of my problem. I had to get real in order to get healed – and I am still healing.

In any event. Sorry to write a dissertation, I am just passionate about women being their most amazing selves, myself included. Keep up the good work! Love the blog!

Thank you so very much Ekene! I appreciate this more than you know and I love the length. I think you are definitely right and I need to see why I need my comfort sweets so much. I feel very happy in life and maybe that is the problem. Im celebrating too much with the wrong things lol. Again, I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart for writing and I certainly am going to take a look at your site!
