Unless you are living under a rock or you are a total scrooge, you know the holidays are upon us.
From office holiday parties, New Year’s Eve extravangazas, to family get togethers, this is the season of being social! Although I am not much of a partier myself, I have been invited to several events this year to celebrate with yuletide cheer and this led to the inevitable question that immediately takes over a fashionista’s mind when the email invitations and pretty envelopes come in:
“What Am I Going to Wear?”
Even with a ton of preparation, I always change my outfit several times before heading out the door. It is just me and its how I go about my life.
I am a girl who loves leather, the color black, and anything rock-n-roll influenced in clothes. As cool as it is for me, it does not always translate well in my office setting or to some of the uber-fancy get togethers I have been welcomed to attend in the next 2 months.
Besides the aforementioned, my budget is not really allowing me to rampage the stores or online sites in search of sequined maxi skirts and flirty LBD’s with leather accents, so I have to instantly use all my creativity to find appropriate holiday wear while still keeping the integrity of my style.
So how can I get festive and still have moolah for Christmas presents? Overall, I have a pretty simple and laid-back style. I don’t wear much makeup, and just began a relationship with lipstick, so the idea of a red pout seems out of the question. I will rock it to get a pop of color in, however.
Strutting my stuff in a sequined dress seems a tad cliché to me. It looks amazing on everyone else, but if I can’t top it off with a leather jacket then I wont feel at home in that outfit.
After pondering the question over and over, I decided that accessories are my way of being festive, fun, and flirty, while still being every bit of Comme Coco-esque. I am always one to have at least one statement piece of jewelry on and in the spirit of being true to myself, I am heading out to cocktail parties and holiday soirees in a neutral outfit and fun baubles!
My three picks for accessories to liven and spice up my outfits consist of a bow tie, antique brooch-style necklace, and shoulder-grazing chandelier earrings. With these, I am ready for a night on the town to bring in the new year, or to attend my office party wearing a conservative outfit with some added jazz!
Accessories are the easiest way to add something unique to any outfit, and this holiday season I intend to give some of mine a lot of wear and tear to get me noticed!
So… How do you get noticed this holiday season, and what makes you feel the most beautiful?
My 3 Accessories for the Holidays
1. A bright colored satin bow tie worn loose with a black and white outfit
2. An off the shoulder top and wide leg pants accented with shoulder grazing chandelier earrings
3. Any outfit adorned with a statement turquoise double strand necklace with an antique brooch pendant
