Happy 4 Years to Comme Coco

chic main

This was my very first blog post on Comme-Coco. I remember the days of propping my Canon XSi (I have upgraded since then) on anything, setting the timer and rushing in front of the camera to get a picture. I also remember the days of being so shy that I did not want to take pictures outside in fear of people thinking I was vain for taking pictures of myself. I remember the focusing issues because well I knew NOTHING about photography then which is clear by the fact that the orientation is completely wrong in this image. I remember my roomates not having a clue that I was taking these pics because I would wait till they were asleep or out of town to do it.

19 days after this picture, I decided to venture outside and take pictures. I was living in Petworth at the time and finally got a tripod. I took my tripod and went into a dark alley (yeah I know what was I thinking) and took pictures (which of course were underexposed, grainy and blurry because of my sutter settings) and having someone in the neighborhood come outside and ask what was that weird flashing light. “No need to be alarmed, sir, its just me taking pictures of myself for a website that no one knows about” (lol)! action b-w

I have come such a long way on this fashion blog journey and I can without a doubt say it has helped me grow into a far more confident and driven woman! I am far from shy now and I have a “I can do anything” mentality now and it all stems from this blog. It is not just about being vain or immersing myself into a superficial industry… blogging has given me strength and a place where I can fully speak my mind and be my myself. Yes there are internet thugs and critics but there are far more supportive and encouraging people. Blogging has enabled me to travel and allowed me to meet some truly wonderful people that are my best friends. Many things that were on my bucket list have been checked off due to my choice to follow my passion and just get on google and start this blog. I am now using wordpress but I digress. Without blogging, I would have never learned how to use my camera and without that I would have never been booked to shoot events and sports games. Blogging has not only expanded my closet but it has expanded my mind and my world!

Thank you to everyone who retweets, follows and likes my pics on IG, leaves comments on the blog, VISITS the blog, and sends me emails. I reply to everyone and I appreciate the time you take to help support me. I love you all and here is to 4 more wonderful and transparent years!
