Hey all-
Monday was my company all staff meeting and instead of having it in our board rooms, an amazing group of employees decided to kick it up a notch and host our meeting at Washington Nationals Stadium! I realized though that I have been to Nats Stadium 3 times and each of those times there was no baseball game going on. Maybe next year I will attend an actual game and see what DC’s largest outdoor bar is all about. We were allowed to dress casually but since it is still a work function, I felt the need to still appear professional and went with my favorite silk Liz Claiborne shirt, indigo Forever 21 jeans and Shoemint Hattie Flats. I always try to top things off with a pair of fun shades and my true blue tortoise cat eye glasses did the trick. Again, Im thankful for everyone who rallied together and spoke out against IFB’s poorly worded article on Bloggers and Body Image and even happier to see people leave comments on Jennine of IFB’s defensive open letter to the community. Its clear that if we do not agree with her that we are deemed “bullies” and clearly she needs to go to Merriam Webster and look at the definition of that term before using it the way she did. I am still SO angry and SO hurt by it all but I am not surprised at all. I have been speaking on the underrepresentation of plus size, curvy, non white, non blonde, non expensive bag toting bloggers for a while and its nice to see that platforms like IFB pretty much let us know that we arent losing our minds and they really dont think of us as “high quality”. Sigh…. oh well! I will continue to voice my opinions and I hope that brands that have partnered up with IFB decide to pull out because its clear they are prejudicial and lack professionalism there! I really need to just take a deep breath and just let it all go because every time I think of it, I sincerely get really bothered.
So thank you IFB for raising my blood pressure… LOL!

Hi! This outfit is so cute! I can wear jeans to work, so I’m always looking for ways to dress the up a little :).
Also, I just wanted to say that I saw your video re: IFB (grrr, that article) yesterday, but I didn’t get a chance to watch it, or even read the article until today and I’m really glad you said something about it on your blog. I was so angered by the IFB post (and I didn’t even read the original, just the edited version) and the really awful open letter and I’m so glad so many people are opening their mouths and calling IFB on this kind of stuff!!
xo,
Shay
What a fun meeting! Beats and over air conditioned conference room any day. Just wanted to let you know that I found your blog because of your IFB response and I loved it. If anything good came of that post it was that I found several more non-model-thin bloggers to love!!
What a place to have a meeting! The outfit is too cute and I love the pops of color with the shoes and the necklace. My head is still reeling over the whole IFB fiasco (I found your blog via Love and Brown Sugar’s post). I’ve been reading them for years and unfortunately they did confirm my feelings about the lack of diversity in the blogosphere in the past year or so.
Hi Margaret, thank you so much for not only visiting my blog but for commenting. I truly appreciate that. Its an ugly thing that IFB did but hey….. that is how they feel. Its pathetic but at least they were finally honest!!!
aww YAY!!!! Thank you Rebecca! I appreciate the kind words and thank you for visiting. Dont be a stranger, I love to chat!
Hey Shay Lianna- THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for the kind words and for visiting and commenting. It means alot and I am encouraged by your support. I have a tendency to speak out on any and everything and lookt o the blog to be an open forum. That open letter was the WORST and I dont understand what is wrong with that lady. Sigh…..
Love those shoes, and jealous that you got to have a meeting in such a cool venue. I was stuck in a too cold conference room. I’m relatively new to the blogging world, and I don’t really go on IFB but yeah I was embarrassed for her after that whole fiasco. Sad that I’m not surprised but that just means folks will have to continue to create their own organizations and events to highlight the best/innovators in their niche.
Hi Marie- thank you for visiting and commenting. Bertrand is my mother’s maiden name and my aunt is Mary Bertrand so I definitely paused for a second when I saw your name. Yes I agree wity you but I hate that it has to be this way……
Love the photos, and are those jeans lined with turquoise? I love them!!! great outfit!
thank you girl… no they dont but these pics make them look like that dont they lol…..
You’re welcome!
xo, Shay
You are such a beauty The response of the whole IFB debacle proves one thing- that fashion bloggers have a strong collective voice and can be count on to be heard. Here’s to a future of seeing “top tier” bloggers represent more than one flavor of shape and beauty!
thank you so much! I appreciate the compliment and you visiting the blog. The video was my real response to it and it prompted LBS to write her amazing and eloquent post on it. I am still so hurt and angry with it all. Hasta Luego IFB!
You look super cute. As always 🙂 and I had no idea about the IFB controversy so thank you for speaking up about it. It will def make me reconsider being a member. I also want to say that you are truly an inspiration. In fact, when I go shopping I think of what Jenni would wear lol. And I love that you’re so humble personable!
