Yesterday was sincerely one of the most enlightening days of my life. As many of you who follow me on various social media channels know, I had the amazing opportunity to be the exclusive blogger at the Say Yes to the Prom event sponsored by Discovery Communications (think TLC, Animal Planet etc..) and hosted by Monte Durham of Say Yes to the Dress:Atlanta. I had to wake up earlier than usual and God only knows how much I love my sleep but the funny thing is, my excitement and anticipation of the day was the jolt I needed. This really had me thinking about the difference between waking up to go do something creative and fashion related vs waking up to go to my regular 9-5?? I thought maybe because it was something new or maybe its because I slept well the night before or heck maybe my brain was sending better hormones to my body to wake me up but truly it was because I was embarking on a project that fulfilled a passion of mine. It was a LONG day but not once did I check the time or wonder when I would get to leave or even remember to eat because I was in my element doing something that not only challenged the right side of my brain but also the left. I sincerely was on cloud nine. This morning I woke up and thought “sigh, back to the normal grind” but something had already changed in my mentality. I feel that much more inspired and motivated to find my career and not just a job. No, I am not quitting my job or even thinking of it but I am definitely going to up my game so much more when it comes to this blog and my aspirations to work in Fashion PR or host a Fashion TV Show. Find a weekend internship. Take classes. Find a mentor. Whatever it takes! While getting dressed this morning I was going through the routine of picking whatever because I did not care what I looked like in my office because to be honest no one would really see me because Im enclosed in a cubicle (large one but its a cubicle nonetheless), but like I said my mentality is slowly changing. I chose to dress for the job I wanted and well I want to be as successful and kick ass in PR as Kelly Cutrone so I wore ALL black with some funky shoes. So yeah, I am a K. Cutrone Clone and damn proud of it!!!!!
Are you all doing what you love? Is your current position a job or is it a career?
