Logan Circle and Shaw Neighborhoods of DC

This past weekend was jam packed with things to do and hanging out in the Logan Circle and Shaw neighborhoods of DC was not on the agenda.

Shaw is a small neighborhood located in the Northwest quadrant of Washington, D.C. Named after Shaw Junior High School, a junior high school located at Seventh and Rhode Island Avenue NW, the Shaw neighborhood has been home to the largest urban population of African-Americans in Washington, D.C. since the 1920s. – WikiPedia
Logan Circle is a traffic circle, neighborhood, and historic district in the Northwest quadrant of Washington, D.C.[1][2] The primarily residential neighborhood includes two historic districts, properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and sites designated D.C. Historic Landmarks.[2][3][4] It is the only major circle downtown that remains entirely residential. -WikiPedia

On Friday I was hired to shoot Liz of a Bizzy Life on a tour of a new hotel in DC and it was pretty cool to get a behind the scenes glimpse of it. I love seeing things still in construction and seeing the grittiness of it before they go ahead and polish it up. Sometimes the skeletons are just as fascinatingly beautiful as the finished product.

I am not going to divulge the hotel as it is her story and I merely was along to photograph. But its going to be AMAZEBALLS!

After shooting Liz, J and I headed in search of a fun and colorful mural or wall to shoot in front of because DUH, I wanted outfit photos of myself. Although I had thrown on something that would be comfy for shooting others, I realized I had a cute Parisian look going on. As we were driving I saw the big colorful Logan Circle sign and we immediately illegally parked, hopped out the car and proceeded to snap away as quickly as possible.

After the 15 minute photo session, we realized that we were near friends of ours in Shaw and wanted to visit so we ended up near the convention center at a new development named City Market at O and instantly fell in love. Tunnels underneath buildings, massive rooftop event space areas, and full dog parks- OH MY!

It was nuts to see just how much the area had changed. I still am not sure how I feel about it all but some of these buildings are such a beaute that it is hard to not love the changes. I just wish it was more affordable for those without 6 figure salaries or trust funds! lol. But its the USA and capitalism reigns free so……

But I digress. As I often do in these posts.

After visiting friends, my always ravenous tummy was screaming at me and after many referrals, we dined at French Quarter not far from O st. OH MA GAH! It was pretty darn delicious. J and I noshed on happy hour oysters specials, gator bites and Po’ boys fit for Mardi Gras induced hangovers. I cannot wait to go back and try out the crawfish pies and hush puppies. If you have been to NOLA, I say skip out on their beignets as you will be disappointed.

All in all, we have been having a blast touring through DC and enjoying different areas. There is probably a ton more to do but hanging out in Logan Circle and Shaw neighborhoods of DC deemed to be worth it in more ways than one!

See some DC!

and in true Comme Coco/ Jen Jean-Pierre fashion, I could not be myself without laughing at myself a little bit. As a big thighed gal, I suffer from chafing and well in the summer, I just cannot take it. So I have taken to wearing light weight shorts. Well- thanks to J, here are my not so glorious looking underpants in all their glory!
