Macro Photography and Rings

I never thought I was a jewelry nut until I was cleaning off my dresser the other day and realized I have trinkets galore. Although I do own alot, everything I have can tell you a great story. From my rings to my bangles, each piece is intricate and has a strong history. I was practicing my macro photography the other day and decided to put the focus on my favorite Erica Anenberg ring. It is part of her Braille series and I absolutely adore it and treasure it completely. The outside of the ring has the raised Braille dots and the inside has the inscription “Love At First Sight”. She has others that read “Blind Faith” and “Love is Blind” in gold and in silver. At the time I purchased this, I was in my silver craze but I think a gold one may have to be in  my future.

Although these pictures did not turn out quite the way I wanted them to, it was great practice for me. I do not own a macro lens and am not sure if I will ever purchase one but I am enjoying using my 18-55mm and my 40mm when playing around with this type of photography. I took 5 pictures of this ring and decided no matter how they looked, I would post. My next fun challenge for myself will be producing tack sharp images and stepping away from my obsession with bokeh. I truly love a shallow depth of field but am drawn to wide angle type images so I must practice both!
Let me know what you think!
