A few weeks ago I stumbled upon Karen Brit Chicks video of different ways to style a man’s button down shirt and was in awe. While I knew 80% of the suggestions, I was enamored with styling it as a skirt. So much so that I went to my favorite thrift store and found a few button down shirts to wear in different ways. The next day, J and I were heading to Baltimore for a quick errand and I decided to debut my “concoction!’
But before we chat about button down shirts, I really want to THANK everyone who retweeted, commented, shared and just sent me messages about my previous post. Your support and kind words are dear to me and I cannot express my gratitude adequately. There really are no words!
Back to the style though.
I have a feeling I will be wearing skirts in this fashion more than once this summer season and heck into the fall as well. I picture myself rocking a plaid or buffalo print shirt as a skirt with cute booties and a black turtleneck. It may be a fashion week look depending on the weather. Oh I pray for 55-60 degree weather during New York Fashion week in the fall.
But anyway-
To wear a shirt as a skirt I unbuttoned it and then wrapped it around my waist. I started to button it at the most comfortable section of my waisy and buttoned to the bottom. I tucked the collar in at the small of my back and then used the arms to tie as a belt. Voila, instant skirt.
I do have a thing for button down shirts as you can probably see in this post and this post. Those were two ways I styled them differently. Thoughts?
So tell me, would you try this? And if you do, would you let me know? I would love to see all your visions and styles of this fun look!!!
That is sooooo cute! I must try it that!!
