DC’s Premiere Community for Creatives, The Modern at Art Place

Home is where the art is and after touring The Modern at Art Place aka the Modern DC, I found it. Home that is. And Art. Lots of art.

As a creative, I love to surround myself with inspiration and the halls of this new apartment community in DC are lined with it. Beautiful art pieces. Brilliantly decorated spaces and ample amenities to bring out the artist in you. Not an artist? Don’t fret! Their apartment homes are cozy and spacious that you never have to leave your home.

But with amenities like a rooftop pool, grilling area, lounge room, fitness center and vlogging/ music studio to name a few, its highly unlikely that you will stay solely inside your apartment home.

Like anything, taking my word for it is not enough. I strongly suggest scheduling a tour to see this wonderful community for yourself. If moving is not on your to-do list, no worries, there are so many amazing events happening soon there that you WILL have the chance to “ohhh and ahhh” about the space like I did. Even J was impressed and you know he has a poker face!

Speaking of events, this Wednesday (tomorrow), The Modern DC is hosting a kickboxing class inside one of their personal fitness studios and its a must attend. Why? Although the class is free, donations are highly recommended and ALL donations will go to the Brem Foundation.

Oh and you know I am all about giving back and its exciting to see that the folks at The Modern DC are too.  The Brem Foundation teaches women how to take control of their breast health, provides access to critical diagnostic tests AND trains physicians in the highest standards of care and compassion. So I urge everyone to please attend by RSVPing HERE!

If you can’t make this event, be sure to mark your calendars for November 16 for the kick off of the Shorts and Sips; The Best of DC Shorts Film Festival which is hosted by  The Modern at Art Place. How cool is that?

Back to the community itself. Pulling up, J and I were really amazed at the property. It gave me LACMA in LA vibes and that is ALWAYS a darn good thing. Walking into the main lobby was breathtaking. Think bright open spaces with colorful splashes of art work on the walls and the friendliest of concierges welcoming you. And I found out that local artists have the opportunity to display their work there. All the coolness!

The Amenities (vlog coming soon)

Quay, a leasing specialist, met me and started showing me the space. We first walked into a large lounge and sitting area and I could instantly picture myself getting away from my apartment home, sitting at one of the seats and sipping my latte while working on blog posts. Then we walked to the library and I was even happier. It has an old school rich people feel to it and I thought, yup, I would be in here alot too.

Quay then led us through a larger lounge area that could be used to host parties. This is where most of the fun resident events will be held, like the sip n paint that I showcased in my previous post. This area is furnished with plush couches and tv’s to really lounge or even tables with coloring books to make your inner artist happy!

I spoke earlier about the Modern DC being a place for creatives and it really is. You want to cut fabric to make your dresses? There’s a place for that. Want a quiet place with minimalist decor for vlogging? There is a vlogging studio. There are little birdies who stated it may be turned into a music studio but for now its youtube heaven! Not a creative and not a millenial and want to just have your own quiet place, there is a senior lounge area too!

The Modern DC uses lots of open light as well. From the apartment homes with floor to ceiling windows to the abundance of light pouring into the community, it is a photographer’s dream. We all know natural light trumps studio lighting anyway.

A luxurious apartment community in DC is nothing without a rooftop pool. The Modern DC has that and more. Think grilling areas, lounge areas furnished with waterproof furniture and a large pool for soaking. Can you imagine the parties you could host there?

Into fitness, yup they have that. Weight and cardio area. Personal fitness studios. Yoga type rooms. Yeah, give up your gym membership now! You don’t need it living here!

Speaking of fitness- the outdoor Bocce court is kinda cool. I don’t know how to play Bocce but I am sure I would learn with the quickness!

Apartment Homes

The Modern at Art Place is a 520 apartment home community boasting studio, 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom homes. I was happy to tour the 1 and 2 bedroom homes and loved the designs. Obviously the 2 bedroom has my heart because I need all the closets for my wardrobe but the 1 bedroom was nice and spacious.

I spoke earlier on the natural lighting and each of the homes I toured was flooded with light. No need to use a bunch of electricity by keeping your lights on because the sun streaming in will do that for you. I can totally picture myself shooting all sorts of flatlays next to the big ole window or even selfie after selfie. Not gonna lie, I took some BOMB selfies while there and recently posted one on my instagram already. You could really see my curls!

J and I had fun shooting in the 1 bedroom. I loved that I could keep my ISO very low because even though it was late afternoon, that light was AMAZING!

I don’t spend a ton of time in the kitchen because J is the chef, but if I did, cooking in there would be oh so pleasant. Tons of counter and cabinet space!
