I recently read an article in Real Simple magazine about Christian Dior and his influence on the Ladylike trend. According to the piece, in 1947 he introduced the world to nipped in waists and full skirts and eventually icons such as Grace Kelly and Jackie O made them more mainstream in the 50s. Whenever I wear a full skirt, I instantly feel as if I should be on the set of Grease and it brings out a certain demureness in me. I think that I am going to infuse my fall wardrobe with far more of this silhouette but of course add some edge to it with either a sweater with studs or a leather jacket.
To those who have been following the blog since the beginning, you may remember this dress skirt from one of my
first few blog posts. At that time I did rock it in its natural state but today I tucked in the top and turned it into a high waist full skirt instead. I am really digging how it came out!
