Ok. I am far from the typical Kate Spade girl. I would not consider myself quirky or timeless in my fashion choices. But that all changed when I rode the elevator up to the 3rd floor of the Russian Tea Room and the elevator doors opened to reveal true elegance! My eyes popped out of my head and my heart beat so much faster once I saw the presentation before me. It was at that moment that Kate Spade NY found itself a new fan.
At 11:07am on February 10, 2017, I took my first steps into the iconic Russian Tea Room and instantly felt more glamorous than I already felt with my feather capelet and wool coat. I was instantly greeted with the most ornate of decor and felt as if I was back in the 1920s. Waiters were clad in tuxes carrying trays of chocolate covered cherries and all I could focus on were the gilded vases and the beautiful red and green color blocking on the walls. I fell in love with the Russian Tea Room and never wanted to leave. Bravo, Kate Spade NY, Bravo! This was the perfect location for the 1920s inspired Parisian elegance that awaited me just a short elevator ride north.
Stepping out of the elevator, I came face to face with art. Every model moved in unison in a very easy fashion. (no pun intended) The pageboy haircuts had me wanting to pop every miracle gro hair pill so that my own shorn locks could grow into that style. The turtlenecks under the oh-so cute dresses had me wanting to go to the nearest Kate Spade and purchase them to layer appropriately. And the bags. The oh-so quirky and cute bags had me at hello. I fell in love.
Fashion invokes my senses and plays with my emotions. I became emotional at Kate Spade on Day 1 of NYFW and I will forever be changed. I know this sounds incredibly corny but it was THAT good. To see all the work that went into this presentation and to have the honor to witness it come to fruition was the highlight of my day 1.
Thank you Kate Spade and the Russian Tea Room. You are all true artists and perfected your craft.
