By now you have seen my vlog from Day 1 of NYFW but probably did not get a chance to see the full NYFW Day 1 outfit.
Because I knew that J and I would be rippin’ and runnin’ throughout the city donig NYFW and non NYFW things, I wanted to be comfortable and still stylish. I needed someone that I could wear with my chucks and something that would look cute with heels as well.
A few months ago, my sister suprised me with this beautiful skirt from a boutique in Detroit, MI and the minute she showed it to me, I knew NYFW was going to be its debut. My two fave colors are pink and black and I absolutely adore the edginess of it!
So I threw it on with a borrowed Anti Socialites t-shirt from J and my trusty South Moon Under leather jacket and kept it moving.
Alot of people ask me about fashion week and it is honestly 50/50 in matters of fun. My real truth lay it all out assessment is this: You get what you make of it.
In past years, I went to NYFW looking to be “discovered”. I thought the right photographer would snap my photo and somehow the right person would see it and want to work with me. I prayed and hoped that being at NYFW would elevate my blog and get me “in”. But yeah 7 years later, Im still here. So I switched my focus and way of thinking and realized that NYFW is about inspiration for me.
Going to New York during Fashion Week just gives me more incentive to keep pushing. I love seeing all the style on the streets and I love seeing so many people with the same goals and passion as me doing what they love. It always rejuvenates me and I tend to produce my best work the weeks after being there.
Please visit Elite Couture Boutique for details on the skirt.
I love this post! I know exactly how you feel about going to NYFW at first to be discovered by photographers but end up being more of an inspiring experience more than anything. This year I attended my first NYFW & had that exact experience, only within the week. I started out with one plan in mind then ended up happier shooting all the creative styles walking down the runway and streets! Great post!
Hey Courtenay! Thank you so much for reading and commenting. Yeah it’s crazy how we fall in the trap but eventually get out of it hahahha
Girl, I love your skirt!

Looking good! I love your shirt!
This was my first NYFW walking the runway and I like you was more fascinated and excited looking at the great fashion on the street and comparing it to what I was seeing and wearing on the runway. A great experience and yes this destination keeps us inspired with even more creativity. But you do that already, and so very well.
