Our new ritual as a couple

asos face and body campaign_-32

Jermaine and I are prioritizing our time lately and we are doing our best to rid ourselves of bad beauty habits. As you all know from my Instagram stories, I am terrible about washing off my makeup some nights and even worse about wrapping my hair. Because I have naturally blemish-free skin, I just never made it a priority but I know it is wreaking havoc on my skin and eventually, my Black will Crack because of it.

Jermaine has blemish-free skin as well but suffers from some type of ailment where his skin is flaky. I am always begging him to moisturize and exfoliate but alas it falls on deaf ears. Yeah, yeah, I’m a hypocrite. I preach better than I do.

We recently sat down and assessed our lives together and came to the realization that we just do not do enough to better ourselves and each other. Yeah…. we support each other’s business endeavors, hopes and dreams but we are failing with everyday things. I mean real talk, we have gotten lazy with ALOT!

While oh-so-small, nightly skincare routines together made it on our list of changes and we were excited that our favorite online retailer, Asos, now offers face and body products. From masks to makeup brushes to cosmetics to hair care, there is not much that you cannot find to help beautify yourself and start a new ritual.

Because I already have an arsenal of products, we focused on items that we both could use and some that would work well for his new daily ritual. Shaving cream, masks, and aftershave balm (I use it too on my legs) topped our shopping list the first go around. But next time, I’m going for the Benefit Cosmetics Benetint and Big Bang Mascara. I may throw some Elemis products in as well because I have been dying to try them. YUP- they sell Elemis!!!!

Our thinking with this new ritual is that if we start small and maintain, it will be easier to establish other necessary routines. We have attempted to make grand plans of cleaning weekly and working out 5 times a day and failed miserably so starting off with our skincare seems like a good start. Plus it gives us the opportunity to test out new things in hopes of finding the products for us.

On another note…..

I am starting to feel that ASOS is becoming my one-stop-shop. When I am attending a wedding and in need of a dress, I go there first. When Jermaine wants something funky to rock to an event, he is on the app. I even purchase people’s gifts there because I love it that much. But the addition of the face and body section is a GAME CHANGER for me!

So now that I have admitted how much I lack in beauty rituals, what is something you know you should be better about when it comes keeping your skin youthful? Or heck anything at all? It’s a safe space, let’s chat.

Since I’ve become pregnant I’ve been so much better at taking care of skin. Love that you and Jermanie did this together!
