Peplum and Yellow

all photos taken by Elle of Eat Style Play
Hey all-
Many of you have already seen pics of this outfit from my previous post about the Capfabb event as well as on my Instagram feed but wanted to do a quick post with just outfit pics and details. This is my first time wearing peplum and I love it. Being a girl who really does not have hips (saddlebags do not count), I need a little something something to give me more of a a curvy figure and this silhouette seems to be just what the doctor ordered. You may think “Um Jen, you have curves”…  and well yes I have thighs, a slight protruding butt and arms BUT honestly I am very straight up and down, almost boyish at times. It would probably help if I worked my obliques out a little more huh? Thank goodness for outfits that help you FAKE it till you MAKE it! This peplum top is made of this amazing stretchy but thick material that hides a multitude of flaws and is very comfortable. I found it at Lucaya in PG Plaza mall for under 15 dollars and they have other great colors as well. I am thinking of going to nab a few more during my shopping date with Waverly! There is also this faux leather, studded biker vest that I absolutely need in my arsenal in each of the 3 colors they carry it in. Trust me when its mine, I will share with all of you! ON a separate note… I already know that my manman is going to comment on how dark I have gotten and well… I even noticed it. I am the perfect shade of a hershey’s kiss now instead of that cafe with a few drops of milk that I used to be and I am kinda enjoying it!!!!!!!
So what do you all think of the peplum? Does it suit me? Want to see more of it? Let me know….

Top: Lucaya similar Option 1, Option 2
Pants: Forever 21 (under 10 dollars on sale when I purchased!)
Wedges: Joey, option 1, option 2, option 3
Purse: Kura Designs
Necklace and Bracelets: Forever 21
whole outfit cost: under 45 dollars!!!!

soooo cute! and I love the backdrop…are those paper birds? LOL

Okay, on to the peplum! Girl, I feel you on the straight up and down boyish shape. I think we have a very similar body type…but I have even LESS curves. Can I get some of that? Peplums really do help you fake it to you make it. My husband even noticed it when I wore a peplum tee. It is now his favorite trend. smh. LOL!

You summed up the peplum trend perfectly. Def looks good on you and accentuates/gives the illusion of hips. I am not a fan for my body, and I could’nt explain why until now. I have a little bit of hips and I think it would only exaggerate it, think Jessica Rabbit. Gorgeous backdrop.
