A few bloggers and I have proclaimed that 2013 is the “Takeover”. Its the year that we are going to work as hard as we can on our blogs and reach a greater audience while making sure we turn the blog into a brand. So far the small group of us who are part of this ‘elite group’ are succeeding in our goal. Say Yes to the Prom is a fabulous community outreach program started by Discovery Communications to help young girls in need find their perfect prom dress and be pampered princesses for a day. I was fortunate enough to be in a situation that I could purchase the prom dresses (yes I went to several proms) of my dreams but not everyone has that same chance and EVERY young lady deserves to feel beautiful and special on their prom night. This year Discovery and the team have chosen Magruder High School and KidsPeace to assist and I am so happy to be a part of this! I am beyond honored (I know we all use that term) to be the blogger chosen to assist Monte of Say Yes to the Dress:Atlanta in accessorizing these young women. Monte will be in charge of the styling and picking out of the dresses and I will be putting my jewelry layering skills to work finding the perfect “icing” to complement the dresses. I love being a part of this because empowering and uplifting our young women is one of my goals and passions. Like Beyonce said, “Girls Run the World” and if I can help just one young lady feel like she “runs her prom world” then I will feel like the most accomplished blogger in the blogosphere. We all have talents and skills and it means absolutely nothing if you do not use them for positivity as well as giving back. Please stay tuned for more pics from the day and please check out an awesome video about Say Yes to the Prom, HERE! Oh and a pic of me in 9th grade in my prom dress…… totally plain but I adored it (minus the fact my mom wouldnt let it be a low halter and of course stitched up the straps hahaah).
Dont forget to watch the Say Yes to the Prom Video as well!
