It is officially cold in DC. Like 20 degrees! And duh, its winter so it should be cold but we got really spoiled over the holidays with 50-60 degree temps so yeah, I’m freezing my tookus off! Well clearly not freezing enough because on Saturday we got about 3 inches of the white stuff and I immediately put on my best snow day style in dc outfit, grabbed my tripod and took some self portraits.

I had not one intention on placing them on the blog as these were more practice for me. Shooting snow is not the easiest thing so I definitely wanted to get some test rounds in before I do a real snow day style shoot. Even if the focus is a teeny bit off in some of these, I am pretty happy with how they came out. Self portraits can be tricky. Remote triggers can be used or in my case, I set the timer to shoot off 8 shots a round.

So instead I set the camera on manual focus and manual and I used the tree as my focal point and just stood as close to it as possible. I also used my kit lens (18-55mm) because I could not find my 50mm 1.4. I do think the wider zoom lens made for an easier time because I was able to capture more of the scene and just crop to my liking in post processing.

I threw on a shearling jacket I purchased from Zaful, my favorite tassel sweater from French Connection, trusty H&M high waist skinny jeans and topped it all off with me Arsenal pom beanie! Oh and the sunnies are from eBay! They are under 5 bucks so YEAH… I may get a couple more!
