All I want and aim for is a simple life. I know that sounds so well- simple but hey it’s the truth. I’m sitting in the car on the way to Winn-Dixie with Jermaine to my left and typing this up.
When I started my blog it was just to share. Then business got into it. Then strategy. And it became too much. I just want to write and not worry about passive voice, excessive be verbs, or sounding (reading) intelligent. I just want to write and share with all of you. That is a part of my quest toward a simple existence.
But back to it. We moved to Florida in search of a simpler life and I definitely think we have found it.
I’m in awe of how everything shuts down early and businesses take long vacations allowing their staff to rest and recuperate. I love that everyone seems to be in a good mood and customer service in our small town has been phenomenal.
Maybe it’s my age but this is what I strive for. I started looking at my wardrobe and realized my goal is simplicity as well. I have a distinct personal style and rarely stray from it and you will see that I am drawn to comfort over anything.
This doesn’t mean that I don’t love a high-ass heel or am always in sneakers but I never want to feel constrained or stuffed into my clothing. My garments must graze over these curves and not always hug every nook and cranny.
Because of this, I gravitate towards Kahlana Barfield Brown’s style. She always looks polished but very comfortable. Basically my fashion goal. When she announced her collaboration with Target, I was gung-ho. When I saw the collection, I lost my mind. It is like she knew what I was missing in my closet and made sure to design them. I bought FAR too much and had to stop myself from purchasing anything else.
Here are my faves from the collection:
