When you think of a vacation, a tropical getaway or somewhere far from where you live comes to mind. But sometimes all that you need to re-energize is a change of scenery and that is where a fabulous staycation comes to play. Living near Washington DC, it is easy to play tourist with all the fabulous restaurants, monuments and things to do! My friend Kizzy and I recently had a sleepover at the luxurious Fairmont Washington DC located in the West End neighborhood of the nations capital and had a blast! It is a perfect location because you are walking distance to all the Georgetown shopping and eateries and a quick cab ride away from most of the popular neighborhoods in DC.
Although there is a great restaurant located right in the hotel that offers sustainable and seasonal fine cuisine named Juniper, we craved something on the chicken and waffles side and headed over to Founding Farmers to indulge our taste buds! It was my first time there and I promptly ordered the Fraise Fling cocktail because I certainly have an obsession with prosecco! I just cannot get enough of these bubbles and this drink was perfect! Not too sweet and not too tart, it paired well with the deviled egg and cornbread appetizers that we ordered.
After dinner we headed back to the Fairmont and each had the best hot showers of life and used their amazing beauty products, threw on the plush white robes and proceeded to watch Scandal and How to Get Away With Murder until we dozed off comfortably on the ridiculously soft king bed! Staying at the Fairmont is heaven and I cannot wait to do it again for yet another “staycation”. May even host a PJ party there for my birthday… the choices are endless 🙂
Enjoy the pictures and please check out the Fairmont if you are ever in DC or just want a nice hotel with impeccable customer service and amenities. This is hands down one of my favorite in the city and I cannot wait to post about the others that I adore just as much in various other neighborhoods of DC and of course, Baltimore!
