Women and shoes have always maintained a beautiful love affair. Think Dorothy and her Ruby slippers, Cinderella owned her glass ones, and of course iconic Carrie Bradshaw and her Choos and Manolos. Because of this, it was no surprise that grammy nominated and uber talented songstress Keyshia Cole debut a shoe line with shoe magnate Steve Madden. Viewing her instagram, pictures on the internet and of course appearances, one can clearly see that fashion and phenomenal style have a strong hold on this west coast singer. She always makes sure her own personal fashion preferences shine through and is never one to play it safe with her sartorial choices. She always owns her looks no matter what she rocks and I admire her greatly for this.
The Steve Madden and Keyshia Cole shoe collection consists of seven heeled looks, ranging from pointed toe pumps (a fave of mine) to tall boots to platform booties. Each has its own pizzazz and every piece of footwear has the Keyshia Cole signature written all over its vibrant designs. I personally fell in love with the Diva which is a pointed toe pump with a sexy as all heck lace up front. As soon as I get them, I will certainly be pairing them with a curve hugging midi pencil skirt, graphic t-shirt and slightly studded moto leather jacket.
I was invited to interview Keyshia on Saturday at Towson Town Center in Baltimore to discuss her recent collaboration and chat a little about her new video that will be out soon. This was my first interview and I truly did not know what to expect. Watching the video, I certainly can see room for enormous improvement but I am ridiculously grateful to be honored with the opportunity. My favorite part of the short chat with this multi-platinum sensation was her answer to my questions about the fall trends. She stated “We don’t follow trends, we set them“. Boom! A lady after my own heart and I will forever be a fan of her music and fashion trend setting ways! Congratulations Mrs. Cole-Gibson on your amazing line, you shall see your footwear on many, many bloggers and fashionistas alike!

Questions I Should Have Asked:
Tell me more about the inspiration behind the Diva and what outfit would you pair it with?
How long did the design process go and how did you choose the colors?
What woman did you have in mind when you were designing and creating these heels?
How does your music affect your taste in clothes?
Thank you again Keyshia for your patience and professionalism!
