Hey all-
Although I am not a huge fan of thanksgiving as a food fest holiday, I do love the idea behind it of being thankful and showing appreciation for everything throughout the year. Holly from Refinery29 approached some bloggers about writing what they are thankful for and honestly I could not make it short and concise because there are SO MANY things and people that positive impact me on a daily basis! I do believe you should be thankful and show thanks every single day of your life but in the end its nice to see everyone unite and celebrate for at least that one day. As a blogger, I meet and interact with so many people on a weekly basis. I am beyond thankful for everyone that I speak to, see, email with and work with and try to show my appreciation as often as possible. I do my best to respond to EACH and every one of my readers and visit their sites and leave comments. Engagement is EVERYTHING to me and without you, I wouldn’t have half the successes that I have been fortunate to have this year. So THANK YOU! Along with my mother, father, sister, brother, boyfriend, best friends (Tee, Alexia and Lakisha L), boyfriend’s mother, son and grandmother, I wanted to take a moment and give special recognition to the bloggers who really have positively impacted my life this year. I truly love you ladies from the bottom of my heart and no words can do justice to what you all mean to me!
Check out the bloggers who I hold close to my little heart:
First and Foremost…. Monroe of FashionSteeleNYC…. where can I even begin? This lady is beyond awesome, ridiculously amazing, incredibly welcoming and supremely knowledgeable! I randomly emailed Monroe one day after seeing her blog and asked her some blog related questions and we have been friends ever since. Every time we get together it feels as if we have been friends for years and years and I have a level of comfort with her that I rarely have with most people. So comfortable in fact that when I was coming to NYC for Fashion Week, she opened her home to me and allowed me to stay with her even though we had not formally met. It is so weird but I never had any reservations about it even though my mother definitely did! I am truly happy and feel blessed beyond belief that her and I are friends and can travel this blog journey together. Monroe, I really believe that you deserve the absolute best in life and I know that all of your “fashion” dreams will come true. You work too hard and have too much fashion sense not to be one of the fashion elite!!! (just give me a job once you make it big). Thank you Monroe for everything. I cannot list everything you do for me but please know I am so grateful for you!
Elle is the cutest blogger I know (hahahahah, she hates the word cute so I just HAD to)
But on a serious note, Elle is my blog sister! We talk pretty much every single day on Gchat and our convos range from fashion to infertility to starting businesses to dirty gossip and I would not change a single one of them ever. I truly am transparent with this style maven and never, ever am afraid she will judge me for anything I think or say. What I love most about her is the fact that I know she will call me out on my BS or my bad day rants and because of this she is my go-to person for almost everything now. I am very thankful for this wonderful lady and I cannot wait till all of her fabulous business ideas come to fruition because the plus size fashion world is going to crown her the queen once she is up and running. Oh, and the girl can COOK…. you owe me some Bacon Waffles Sweetie (another word she hates)!
The 3rd blogger I am most thankful for is Ms. “Combats to Stilettos” herself, Naja of NajaDiamond. She is another fashion doll that I found through scoping out blogs and when I found out that she was contemplating moving to DC, I had to reach out and tell her all about our fantastic metropolis and of course persuade her to move here because her style was so needed in this city! From the first time we hung out I knew she would be a friend. This girl is loud, overtly sweet and so incredibly humble even though she is the (insert expletive)! Although she is not a beauty blogger and more so a fashion expert (her fashion resume is RIDIC), I find myself going to her asking about hair care and makeup because she always looks so perfectly put together and polished! I remember we had a thrifting date and she text me that she was coming “bummy”. I know what bummy is and was happy because I was in a t shirt and cute sweats and tennis shoes… please tell me why this girl shows up in super cute jeans, a top, a fun jacket, wedge booties and uber fantastic hat. Makeup well done but more neutral/natural colors and pleading to me that this was “bummy”… never, ever again will I ever believe her description of what she is dressed like to anything again! Bummy means stylish
and “cute” means Fierce!
I am extremely thankful for Vivy because she has the most beautiful spirit of anyone I have recently met. Although we do not see each other much or talk as often as I would love, I hold her very close to my heart. Vivy is the perfect combo of sweet and salty, naughty and nice and I do not mean that in any bad way. Vivy has this welcoming smile and sweet nature but once fired up or upset, she is a firecracker and I love that about her. I always feel happy around her and cannot help but laugh and not have a care in the world! Im also very thankful for her support and amazing fashion sense. I don’t think I have ever met up with her and not drooled over her outfits. I am still pleading with her to please start a personal styling company for plus size women because as I previously mentioned I have never, ever seen her look a “mess”. Vivy is one of the most beautiful women I know both inside and out and I am happy that she is in my life!
Every single time I sit by my computer and begin typing a blog post, I wish that I could have even HALF of Alison of Wardrobe Oxygen‘s writing skills and talent. This is one of the many reasons I am thankful for her. Alison has an unapologetic voice that I adore and a way with words that I envy! No matter how busy she is or annoyed with me and my million questions, she always takes the time to offer advice and point me in the right direction. Although we have only hung out a few times, I am very thankful for her generosity, open spirit, fantastic personal style, and inspiring blog posts on a variety of topics from fashion & style to being happy with yourself. I always leave her blog feeling a little better about myself with this “I can take on the world attitude”! Thank you Alison for empowering me, assisting me in being a better person and not telling me to kick rocks every time I ask you a coding, blogging or fashion question!!!
****there are many other people who I am very thankful for but I just wanted to showcase just a few of those who truly add to my blogging life and my personal life on a regular basis. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!****
