Tomboy chic is a term I use to describe my style and many have no clue what I really mean by it. Is dressed androgynous? Is she in baggy clothes with heels?
I grew up playing sports, wearing men’s ties, and wanting to do the things that the boys did but I still loved my fashion magazines and clothes. When I first saw tomboy chic written in a magazine, I was elated to find something that 100% described me.
I never followed football closely growing up as I was an ardent basketball enthusiast. I lived and breathed the Phoenix Suns because of Charles Barkley and his cockiness. I just loved watching him play! He was plastered on my walls like most girls had New Kids on the Block! When I moved to the DC area and started playing football, I started paying closer attention to NFL games because I understood the game much more. It was not just about a bunch of men tackling each other but instead a game of elegance and finesse if viewed with appreciative eyes. Football is a thinking game and not just about brute strength and its probably why it is hands down my favorite sport to play and watch. Who does not love the mix of machismo with intelligence?
I am originally from Michigan so you would think the Lions would be my team but after dating a man whose passion for the Ravens roared through the house every Sunday, I could not help but share in his enthusiasm! But to be completely honest, my affinity for college football and well the University of Miami made it easy for me! All I can say is #52 had my heart! I fell in love watching Ray Lewis’ impeccable run defense and I thought to myself, I want to be a middle linebacker! Although his pass defense was a tad off at times, I loved watching him and the physicality of the whole Ravens system. This is how I became a Ravens fan!!
I own ALOT of Ravens gear because well Purple Friday is a big ole deal around these parts. I was extremely excited to partner up with Majestic Athletic to show how I style my shirts in a non athletic way. The day after we won the Superbowl, I proudly wore my Ravens shirt to my place of employment in the most business like fashion I could come with. For this look I decided to pair my Ravens Raglan V-Neck Tee with a leather midi skirt, striped pumps and my favorite angled blazer for an outfit that screams I am professional but still love my team!
Here are a few other posts I have done rocking my Ravens’ gear or speaking on the Ravens in general:
I need to steal this look and wear it with my Atlanta Falcons (yeah still a fan even after this season, lol)
