I had the honor of being invited to the Heart Truth Red Dress Collection Fashion Show in NYC and cover it as the blogger ambassador for the American College of Cardiology (ACC). This annual event kicks off New York Fashion Week with a runway presentation of celebrities wearing custom red dresses created by some of America’s hottest and iconic designers. As stated in this post, the Red Dress is the symbol for heart disease awareness in women and a reminder that this preventable illness is the #1 cause of death for women in the United States. We see so much done for Breast Cancer Awareness with pink taking over the month of October (which is great!) but not enough of a red presence in February during Heart Month. Heart disease is not an older woman’s disease and can affect all of us at any age. Diet Coke, The Heart Truth (NHLBI), and CardioSmart have joined together to organize this event in order to remind us to get checked and to live a heart healthy lifestyle. The show was truly a delight and the highlight of it was the uber vivacious Rosalyn Sanchez working her hips in a gorgeous Tadashi Shoji dress as she salsa’d up and down the runway.
