I love men’s collared shirts.
Like really love them! I purchase them in bulk from thrift stores and I will wear them as tunics, as shirts to tie around my waist, as a shirt dress and recently I decided to start using a men’s shirt as an off the shoulder low back top and I am totally digging it!
I had to use a shirt that is about 2 times larger than my size because I needed to be able to knot it comfortably in the back. If it was too fitted or too close to my own size, I would not be able to tie it around my waist. So I took the shirt and put it on backwards. Because of past shoulder injuries from playing competitive volleyball, I have difficulty with buttons or zippers in the back. I got assistance in buttoning. Some may not have to button at all but with my shoulders and how large this shirt was, I need some added security!
After I tied and buttoned, I rolled the collar inwards until I liked the off the shoulder effect. The sleeves gave me the most trouble because they were SO long and so big. I used the J.Crew method folding them up and then I scrunched them up even further.
After wearing this for a couple minutes, I realized that I may have gone a little too large with the sizing and/or I would need to secure the sleeves in a different manner. They kept sliding down or unraveling and the last thing I ever want to do is have to spend time fidgeting with my clothes! I want to look stylish but heck, I have a life to live and things to do and rolling up sleeves every 5 minutes is not on that task list!
Because I have put myself on a very strict budget, you will be seeing far more repetition in my clothing and more innovation when it comes to my style. I am just not one of those bloggers that can go all willy nilly anymore. I want to save for my future rather than a closet full of material goods!
What?!? Who thinks to do this….? So cute!
