Alright yall- I am not really into dresses. And I should be because they are so easy to look stylish without doing too much. Well, let me rephrase, I don’t own many dresses or buy them but I am trying to change this. Recently I was watching my friend Jenee of High Low Luxxe, youtube and saw all her voluminous dresses and my interest was peaked.

Like many of you know, I am not huge on body con or super tight clothing. Every now and then a form fitting dress is amazing but overrall, I will choose a crop top with high rise wide leg pants over everything. But after watching her youtube, I found myself searching the web for voluminous dresses that I actually liked.

I couldn’t find any. Well, no, I lied. I found a few but they were either far too expensive for a style I wasn’t too sure I would like on myself or there were no sizes available. But then Jermaine and I were at Target getting Teagan’s formula and I saw this tiered number and wanted it immediately. But like my web searches, the sizes were limited.

I almost bought an XL just because I wanted one. It would have been far too big though. It is so roomy that sizing down is the way to go. So I got on my target app and saw they had a BLUE! In stores, I only saw the creme and black version. Being that I am trying to also add a bit more color to my wardrobe, I chose the blue.

It arrived on Friday and by Saturday I was wearwearing it for a family get-together.

For most of you following me through the years, you know I lean more towards androgynous dressing but every now and then my classically “feminine” side pops up. When I was in middle school my favorite thing was a bandanna or a scarf. I would find so many ways to wear them in my hair and while styling this dress, this silk one was perfect.

I’m going to be a bit sad when I take out my long crochet locs because my little afro puff doesn’t suit as well with the long scarf ponytail look. But I will find some way to wear a scarf anyway.

Speaking of our family get-together yesterday. I feel so full today. We had an unbelievable time. It’s magical to be surrounded by love. We were a full house of mostly kids and it was nice to see them all running around and happy. With the pandemic I believe we are all in need of the joy that kids bring around and I’m happy to have experienced that yesterday.

Well, its 10:26 am on Sunday and I need to get the day started. Thank you all for reading this journal entry of mine and I hope you enjoy the pics and dress. If you decide to get it, I am wearing a size Medium for reference. Also in full transparency, I got the Black one yesterday thanks to my best friend Elle. I can see myself wearing either with opaque tights and knee-high boots this Fall and Winter. Cause, yes, my items need to be able to be worn all seasons 🙂

Have a great Sunday yall! Thank you for your support and for your love. I appreciate you very much!
