Truth Time: What to do about cellulite?

Let me tell y’all something when I first saw these photos I gasped a little bit. Not cause my outfit is cute— it is. Not because they aren’t shot well—they are. But because I saw just how pronounced my cellulite looked. It had me immediately thinking— what to do about cellulite?

Not even 5 seconds after this thought invaded my head did I remember an image of my beautiful baby in the bath. Her little bum smushed up and super dimpled. I thought it was so precious and I just wanted to kiss her from head to toe.

Her dimpling is cute. My dimpling is a flaw. Or so society and media has us feeling this way. Seeing Teagan’s butt reminded me that this is natural. If a one-year old has it then it’s just what is and how some of our bodies are made or react.

We are inundated daily with photos of perfectly smooth thighs, butts, stomachs, etc so in our heads that is the ideal. But why? Dimension adds character

I’m a beautiful natural woman. My thighs are big and luscious and my calves pop in heels. When I lose a little weight the cellulite diminishes a bit but overall it doesn’t matter. It will always be there. No amount of rolling the fascia or laser treatments is going to significantly decrease it.

So what to do about cellulite?

Embrace it! Show it off. Lay off the photoshop. Be you and do you!

It’s really up to us to change the societal standards of beauty. Yes, the plus-size movement has been monumental and beautiful. Now let’s work a little more on showcasing our natural selves.

While I am not a huge advocate of plastic surgery, I am a proponent of doing whatever it is makes you genuinely happy. Not happy because of acceptance by others but that inner happy that no one can change whether they say or do to you.

So my final what to do about cellulite is this:

Warmer temps are upon us. Grab your short shorts, your short skirts, and your bathing suits, and be unapologetic about strutting your natural self in these streets. Take your photos and post them. Quit the comparison and help motivate and empower other folks who may be feeling less than because their beautiful natural body doesn’t resemble what we see in the media.

It’s a cellulite summer for me.

Like these shorts? Made them myself and I’m sharing my tips and tricks in my latest YouTube video. Check it out:

p.s. This is my husband’s shirt and he got it a while back from HM. I could not find anything quite like it so unfortunately, no links for it.

I love this! Thank you for sharing, Jen. This world we live in has definitely warped our mind as to what beauty is and I love how you’ve managed to embrace what makes you you. I’m gonna go do the same too.
