I have been in the blogging game for nearly 10 years and it is something that I don’t think I will ever stop doing. For most, it is a business and while I see it that way in some way, that is not the answer to “Why I Blog”.
I chose to start blogging because of Karla Deras. Her blog inspired me and motivated me. I followed her adventures and waited impatiently for new posts. Although she never wrote a ton in her posts, I always left feeling inspired and wanting more.
So one day I started a site of my own and started taking photos and writing about my daily or weekly adventures. As I have gotten older, my posts have lessened in cadence but increased in volume of words.
But I am sure you are all still waiting for the real answer as to why I continue to blog.
Reasons I blog
- The blog does not criticize me. It is my safe space that I can be myself and express my successes, failures, hopes, wishes, dreams, and anything in between. Even though it is broadcast to the public, writing and posting here helps me feel heard.
- I have PTSD about writing. I actually loathe it and it all stems from my Honors English teacher sophomore year of high school. She was very nice but very lethal with her red pen. My papers used to come back bleeding yall! So I continue to blog in order to push myself to write.
- I blog to inspire and motivate. Many times I feel compelled to share my story with others so that no one feels alone. While I have lived a pretty privileged life, it has not been one without major issues. Because of that, I like to show others how to overcome certain issues or even share any tips I have learned along the way.
- Why I blog? So that I leave a legacy in my own words. Let’s be real, I won’t be writing a book anytime soon but this blog is my true life journey. I often re-read my posts to see how far I have come as a person, photographer, and fashionista. I hope one day to show any children I may have. I want them to always know the good, the bad, and the ugly about me.
- Because I really, really enjoy it. And that is the best reason of all!
outfit details
I wore this outfit on Sunday to attend the Brunch in Style event at the W Washington DC Hotel in conjunction with Sun Gods. In full transparency, I struggled majorly with putting an outfit together. It was the 11th hour that this came together and I really liked it.
Every single piece is old and I cannot link the exact items but below you will find similar items for your perusal. Please remember that I do receive a teeny tiny commission when you purchase or even click. So for those asking how to support me, here is one way 🙂
I love how you put this outfit together and the hat goes so perfectly with the outfit! I’ve been following you for a while and I love reading your blog post, it’s always real and authentic. You have inspired me to start a blog of my own! Well now I have to get to work with building it 💓
