Work Wardrobes and Office Politics

“Dressing well is a kind of good manners, if you ask me. When you’re standing in a room, your effect is the same as a chair’s effect, or a sculpture’s. You’re part of someone’s view, you’re part of that world, and so you should dress well. I find it’s a show of respect to try to put on your best face and look as good as you can.” – Tom Ford
“Clothes don’t make a man, but clothes have got many a man a good job.”
During the summer months we have the luxury of wearing denim to work as long as we still adhere to a business casual dress code. I have not taken full advantage of this because I believe in dressing for the job you want and well I want to be as high of an executive at a medical association, the creative director of a magazine specializing in emerging brands or better yet the top dawg at a fashion PR firm. I recently read an article in Marie Claire about not taking part in casual work days and to always put your best polished foot forward regardless of what the office environment is and I fully intend to do so. Even with my corporate ensemble, I still remain true to my style by adding a snazzy shoe and wearing my favorite boyfriend t-shirt from Target.
How do you adhere to a polished and professional look while still showcasing your style??
