The Transition: Crochet Braids

Hair. Besides a smile, its one of the first things I look at in a woman. I love hair yet I do not do much with my own. I am not a beauty guru and most would LAUGH at my makeup collection. It fits ina  pencil pouch. I do have a lot of hair products though but alas those are pretty much all full. I am simple chick when it comes to hair and makeup. I decided to transition a year ago and so far I have not looked back at all. I am excited to see the natural state of my hair and I am excited to not worry about the damage that relaxers caused my hair. What I am NOT excited about is the maintenance that being natural requires. I detest doing my hair. I dont get joy from it. I want to wake up, shower, dress and shake my hair and go. I dont want to have to “do” it. Plus I play sports so I dont have time to be sweating out my hair. This will be an interesting journey to say the least and let’s pray I can deal with it. While I am transitioning, I have been wearing protective styles… weaves for about 8 months and then the Senegalese Twists that I currently have in. I am ready to try something new and am planning to rock crochet braids next. Problem is… do I go curly or straight? I am not a risk taker when it comes to my hair. I am VERY boring. I love, love, LOVE wild curly hair but always felt that I looked like a poor imitation of Simba when I rock it. Straight hair is my go to… its easy and I am used to it. So as I embark on this crochet braids journey, do I go with a body wave like the pic on the left or something fun and bohemian like the picture on the right? That is up to you to help me with!
