How to Style Relaxed Utility pants

how to dress like your favorite blogger - baltimore harbor easttop baltimore fashion bloggerThis past Sunday, I had the honor of being on a “fashion police” type panel at the South Moon Under store in Baltimore’s illustrious Harbor East neighborhood with celebrity stylist, James Sanders. While at the event, I asked Teena to snap a few outfit pictures for me and while outside, talented fashion photographer Mikhail Veter asked me if he could shoot a few. Im not sure if I was able to say “heck yes” fast enough! Follow him on Instagram: @MikhailVeter

I have been leaning towards a far more minimal style of clothing. I have been picking one piece and building an ensemble around it and this one was centered around the pants. Wile in Florida, I visited LOFT and to my happiness, they were having a major sale. It is hard for me to find stylish pants that fit my 25 inch circumference thighs but the Julie trousers there seem to be made for me. I will forever have the issue of the waist being a tad too large but that is nothing a good tailor cannot fix quickly.

These olive green military inspired/ cargo pants are easily the most comfortable bottoms I have put on my body in so long. If they came in other colors, I would own them with no hesitation.

Back to the my process for choosing the outfit—-

I started with the pants. I knew I wanted a basic top and this thrift sheer pussybow blouse was the clear winner!

Next came the shoes. I wanted a pop of color since the rest of my color palette was more muted and these ShoeDazzle Lotty’s paired perfectly with the green. My hair was a wild mess so a hat was going to be worn and last but not least it was all about this green leather jacket I recently copped from Forever 21!

Many thanks to Mikhail Veter for all these pictures. They are fantastic and I cannot wait to work with you again. As the year progresses, I will be taking the blog to another level. I am heading towards a more editorial aspect to my pictures and want to start telling a story rather than just standing in my outfit and posing. I want to experiment with different lighting, studios, makeup, hair and locations and am open to any photographers looking to create some beautiful art with me.

I am not a fan of super posed pictures. I believe that movement is the best way to capture the beauty of clothing so I am often walking or dancing in my pictures. I also am a huge fan of candid shots. I just don’t like anything too scripted. I also will shoot in almost anything. Wind, thunderstorm, snow- precipitation does not bother me. As long as we get the shot, I am happy!

I had an idea to shoot with James and I love how these quick pics turned out!

So my transparency confession of this post deals with the jacket. In my previous post, I was sucking in majorly and this post, my beloved leather jacket is too snug in the arms. Hence why its draped over my shoulders in most of the shots. I can put it on but I am not happy with how it currently fits.

Such great photos, I love how you styled these pants. I have some similar that I haven’t worn because I can’t figure out how to style them during the colder months outside of wearing boots, but now I do!!
