DC Event: Scholars and Responsible Citizens

Hey all-
A little over a week ago I had the pleasure of being invited and attending a small networking event hosted by the Young Benefactors Group and the Institute for Responsible Citizenship. My good friend is a co-chair and former scholar of the I4RC and I strongly believe in and will always support their cause. The event was a chance to mingle with the young elite here in DC and was held at the beautifully decorated 21M Lounge of the St. Gregory Hotel in the heart of the city. It gave the scholars an opportunity to practice and perfect their networking skills further enabling them to be comfortable with the movers and shakers of our little metropolis.
 As stated on the I4RCwebsite,
The Institute for Responsible Citizenship prepares high-achieving African American men for successful careers in business, law, government, public service, education, journalism, the sciences, medicine, ministry, and the arts.We require our students to complete rigorous academic seminars in Government and Economics, work at high-level internships, and participate in lectures, seminars, and roundtable discussions with some of the nation’s most prominent public and private sector leaders. An integral part of our program includes intensive mentoring by the Institute’s founder, professors, alumni and friends. Our goal is not only to help talented African American men achieve career success, but it is also to train these young leaders to be men of great character who will make significant contributions to their communities, their country, and the world.
Check out pictures below and please check out the bios of the 2012 Scholars as well… definitely will be seeing these young men positively affecting our world and community and they certainly deserve huge congratulations on their achievements thus far!!!!!

Everyone is just to the 10s. I believe this is a good thing. Empowerment is always key.

It looked like such a great event for a great cause. I’m glad you and Sade (who looks fabulous in her hi-low dress, by the way).

Never been to the St. Gregory Hotel. And basing it off these photos, it seems like I need to.
