House of Hillary

Happy New Year everyone and welcome to 2016!

Like we all do annually, we make resolutions and by February most of them have been thrown out in the trash and we shift right back to our old ways or habits. I am definitely guilty of that so this year I am going to make a solemn vow to stick to my goals and stop making excuses. I also figure that if I place it right here on Comme Coco, then I will be held accountable by all of you. Accountability is something I stressed as being very important in my growth into an emotionally stronger woman in 2015 and I am pretty happy about it.

Speaking of being strong- if you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you know that my heart&soul passed away on Christmas Day 2015. My grandmother Vivie became a beautiful angel in heaven and although it has been one of the most emotionally trying times of my life, the journey of empowerment that I embarked on late 2014-2015, prepared me beautifully for it. I believe that she gave me most of her strength and I will continue on her legacy with the attributes that she was most known for: generosity and discipline!

I don’t want this to be a long post as I am still trying to balance out all the emotions of grief that I am feeling but I want to honor her by continuing the blog regularly as she would have loved. She absolutely adored looking at my pictures with my mom and loved when my sister and I would get dressed up and I will hone in her spirit of discipline and make sure that Comme Coco has new content weekly! I would say that is resolution/goal number 1. Every day this week I will be presenting one of my goals and my plan on accomplishing them.

Although I do not have a single political bone in my body- and yes I will be residing again in the Nation’s Capital soon ( goal #2), I will be voting for Hillary IF she wins the Democratic ticket.  I do not consider myself a Democrat or a Republican. I really just want the right person for the job. But there is no one that I see on the Republican ballot that I would want to run the country! With that being said, I jumped at the chance at being a pseudo-Ambassador for new clothing line: House of Hillary! Again, if you follow my instagram, you may have noticed that I have been rocking various shirts from the collection. I truly love them and am having fun styling them in various ways!

For this shoot, I knew that I did not want to style the baseball tee in a sporty way. I had to class it up a bit but still add my edge to it. Poof- add a chicwish skirt, printed pumps and captain’s hat and you have my outfit du jour! Many thanks to my sister for snapping these for me! We started shooting at 5:21 and were done by 5:32… talk about efficient!!!

Oh- and how could I forget….. yes my awesome hair guru and I decided to change up my hair again. I live for different hair styles and being a chameleon so we added a full weave! Many thanks to the Brazilian Body Wave I received from Johanns Virgin Hair! It’s my 4th install with it and still super soft, tangle free and NO shedding!!!
