It’s All About the Music

The other day I took a drive to Baltimore to see one of my bff, Teena who is back from living in Texas for a while. A 1 hour drive took nearly 2 because of that traffic that you have no clue why the roads are backed up. You know the kind…. you are at a standstill and once you start to move you expect to see an accident or construction but instead there is nothing. Yeah that traffic.

So as I am stuck in my 2002 Chevy Trailblazer with my only source of music being my CD player and my very small collection of mixed cd’s, I have a little jam session on instagram stories. That is when I realized my music collection is pretty diverse.

On one CD in particular, I started with George Strait and it ended with Meek Mill. I mean “Check Yes or No” and a little “Dreams and Nightmares” cant help but put a smile on your face right?

Music is everything. Although I do not listen as much as I used to, when I get in the mood, I sink deep in the music hole. There is one song in particular that brings me to tears every single time I hear it. Bidi Bidi Bom Bom by Selena is one of my favorite songs but it also triggers me into missing my Dad something serious. It was one of his favorites and he taught me the words. He had us listening to Selena far before she became “big time”.

Since I was a teenager, I have been obsessed with rocker band tees but they were always too pricey for me. Then on our California trip, Monroe had one this amazing Guns N Roses tshirt that I was just enamored with. I wanted it bad. So bad, that we scoured the Melrose Flea Market and Rose Bowl Flea Market for some for me. We did find a few but they were out of my price range.

The other day I was at Target with Jermaine looking at their graphic tee selection and saw the very Guns N’ Roses shirt that I wanted at a price that made my wallet do the tango!

This said shirt is now my favorite in my closet. So much so that I am going to get two more; 1 in a smaller size and the other who I can distress for the summer. When I love something- I love it hard!

Current Fave Band Tees

Speaking of music and Guns N’ Roses- my absolute fave video of life and guitar riff comes from them. November Rain was the first video that truly spoke to me style wise, music wise, and cinematography wise. I just loved it and still do.

So this post is an ode to my love of music as well as my love of style.

There’s something about Amerie’s “Why don’t we fall in love” that puts me in my happy place. It’s so free spirited, bold, the first day of summer, sexy and all about Love! (Of course I had to play it while I typed this lol) I love this look Jen… I used to have camo pants many moons ago and I’ve never been able to find camo pants that compliment my bottom the way they did.

I’ve been wanting some graphic tees myself. Currently on a “No Buy April” but once this is over I’m heading to my local thrift store. I will make sure to browse the men’s section as well for band tees.
